Summary

A regional atmospheric climate model with a horizontal resolution of 55x55 km2 has been used to simulate the Antarctic atmosphere during a 14 year period. Parametrisations of the physical processes are taken from the ECHAM4 General Circulation Model. Before the model was applied to the Antarctic, several adjustments were made to the original code. Sea surface temperatures and sea ice mask in the model were prescribed from observations. ECMWF re-analyses were used to force the model from the lateral boundaries.
